Boozhoo (Hello in Ojibwe).
I’m Kelly Miller, and I’m honored to serve as the Ramsey County Commissioner for District 7, representing the communities of Maplewood, North Saint Paul, and White Bear Lake. My journey to public service is deeply rooted in community, family, and a lifelong commitment to making a difference, and I want to thank all the voters of our district for giving me this opportunity to serve you.
I live in Maplewood with my partner, Terrence, our two children, EllaMarie and Terrence II, and our cat, Callie. We are proud enrolled members of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. I was raised in the small town of Onamia, just outside the Mille Lacs Reservation, and moved to the East Metro with my family 16 years ago. Since purchasing our home in Maplewood in 2021, we’ve fallen in love with the neighborhood and the people who make this community so special.
Professionally, before being elected to this position, I served as the Chief Program Officer of the Department of Indian Work at Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul. While there, I led programming focused on food security, youth enrichment, diabetes education, and economic mobility. My work was rooted in equity and empowerment—values I carry into my role as commissioner.
I am passionate about public service because I have experienced firsthand how Ramsey County programs can transform lives. My own lived experiences fuel my dedication to ensuring that our policies and services meet the needs of all residents, from those seeking a fresh start to families striving to build or maintain a secure future.
As your commissioner, I am committed to listening, learning, and advocating on behalf of our community. I believe government works best when it reflects the voices and values of the people it serves. I look forward to connecting with you, hearing your concerns, and working together to build a stronger, more inclusive Ramsey County.
I hope you will reach out to me if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to Ramsey County. We cover a LOT of territory, and I encourage you to get familiar with our work. We’d love to have more people involved. To learn more, check out the county’s extensive website. If you’d like to stay engaged with me and my office, please sign up for our monthly newsletter here.
