Hello. My name is Kelly Miller, and I am running for Ramsey County Commissioner in District 7. I live in Maplewood with my fiancé, Terrence, our two children, EllaMarie and Terrence II, and our cat Callie.
My family and I are enrolled members of the Mille Lacs Band of Ojibwe. I grew up in Onamia, a small town outside the Mille Lacs Reservation. Terrence and I moved to the East Metro 15 years ago. We purchased our home in Maplewood in 2021 and instantly fell in love with the neighborhood and our community.
In my current role as the Director of the Department of Indian Work at Interfaith Action of Greater Saint Paul, I oversee four program areas that include a food shelf, out-of-school time youth program, diabetes education, and an economic mobility hub. I love being a part of the community, helping meet our community members’ needs, and advocating for those that need a helping hand or a step up to live their best lives.
I am running to be your next county commissioner because I am committed to public service, I have lived experiences that have shown me directly what county services can do to turn one’s life around, and because I want to make a positive impact on the lives of our community members. I understand the power of utilizing our voice in government systems, particularly Ramsey County. With direct experience, I have seen firsthand how policy affects people of all socioeconomic status; from our neighbors needing a helping hand, to homeowners like myself.
As a community-centered leader, I am dedicated to serving the needs and interests of all the people of Ramsey County.
I look forward to meeting with you and others in our community to learn what is important to the neighbors of this district. I will always listen and will work hard to earn your support.
Sincerely,
Kelly Miller
